SPECIAL MESSAGE FROM

THE DIRECTOR OF FORESTS SARAWAK

Bismillahir-Rahmannir-Rahim, Selawat dan Salam Ke Atas Nabi Muhammad SAW

Assalamualaikum Warahmatullahi-wabarakatuh

As the year 2020 gradually comes to an end, we are thankful to still be here and have the opportunity to serve the people and state by playing our roles as civil servants. The fight against the pandemic of Covid-19 has not yet ended but we try to live our lives in the new normal by strictly following Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) set by the government.

Many lives and industries were affected in this eventful year, including the forestry and timber sectors in our state. We, as a country, have been distressed by the casualties and economic damages dealt by the pandemic but we must bounce back stronger than ever in unity. Forest Department Sarawak remains committed and steadfast to its functions to safeguard and manage our state’s forest resources well.

On the other hand, there was also good news in the year 2020. Forest Department Sarawak moved its headquarters for the first time in 36 years from Wisma Sumber Alam to Bangunan Baitul Makmur II, where it currently occupies the eleventh to fifteenth floor. It is hoped that with the brand new working environment, the spirit and determination to work more efficiently among the staff are boosted.

Before I end my message, I would like to take this chance to express my highest gratitude and endless appreciation to all frontliners, who have sacrificed so much in this year to dedicate their time and effort in curbing and stopping the spread of this deadly pandemic.

With the sight of vaccines in the horizon, we shall pray and hope that the pandemic will be under control soon so that our lives can resume as we know it before Covid-19 in our beautiful and harmonious state. Lastly, let us all continue to observe the SOPs set by the government to keep ourselves and our families safe. Have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year 2021 to everyone!

Thank you.

DATU HAMDEN BIN HAJI MOHAMMAD

Director of Forests Sarawak
