The Malays refer to it as rumput malu-malu (shy grass) because the leaves "close" when touched. 

Uses and methods of preparation are:

1. Mental fatigue and insomnia - boil plant in water to make a drink.
2. To regain the affection of the opposite sex - boil plant in water and use for bathing.
