Tree, shrubs, epiphytes, Habitat: In secondary forests and all forest types. creepers, climbers and stranglers. Usually with white or pale yellow latex. One hundred and eighty species are recorded in Sarawak. Many local names are given to the genus, these include Tempan, Entimau, Kayu ara, Lenkan and Engkunoh which are useful to distinguish their habits.
Distribution: Throughout Sarawak.
Note: Many species produce edible fruits which is an important food source for birds and wild animals. Some species are grown as ornamental and shade trees, often having special religious significance.
