Small fern-like tree up to 4m tall. A fully mature tree has rough and ringed stem resembling that of a palm. Old trees are often branched.

Habitat: Locally abundant on sandy beaches and rocky shores.

Distribution: Found only in Kuching Division.

Note: An attractive ornamental plant which is over collected and endangered. The seeds are pounded as poultices for treating skin diseases.
