FILIPINA, September 9, 2026 – The Sarawak Forest Department (JHS) through the Greening Sarawak Campaign has received the ASEAN Green Initiative (AGI) 2026 recognition under the Large-Scale Tree Planting Initiative category.
The ASEAN Green Initiative (AGI) is a regional recognition program implemented by the ASEAN Centre for Biodiversity (ACB) to recognize initiatives for tree planting and ecosystem restoration in ASEAN regions, with a focus on native tree species planting to support biodiversity conservation and ecosystem restoration.
The Head of the Restoration and Industrial Forest Department, Cik Zarina Haji Shebli, represented the Sarawak Forest Director to receive the recognition at the ASEAN Green Initiative Recognition Ceremony in Quezon City, Philippines. She also represented the Department as a speaker in the Ecosystem Restoration Session, ASEAN Heritage Parks Forum 2026, alongside other AGI recipients, sharing Sarawak's experience in implementing the Greening Sarawak Campaign.
This recognition is another achievement of the Sarawak Forest Department in its efforts to restore ecosystems, conserve biodiversity, and green the forest landscape in Sarawak through native tree species planting, including endangered species listed in the IUCN Red List.
